Some Model Railroad Q & A...

O-Gauge, HO, Lionel, MTH & Others    Model Railroading has been segmented into standard sizes or gauges. One of the most common is O-Gauge. The largest trains are G-scale, or Garden railroads. There are gauges smaller than O like HO, N and finally Z-scale.

So how big is O-Gauge?   O-Gauge is 1:48 Scale. That means 48 inches in the 'real' world is 1 inch in 'our' world. An O-Gauge engine is about 10 inches long.

Why O-Scale?   O-Gauge is the most realistic and easier for children to handle.

Three rails?    Unique in the model railroad world, this system uses three rails. The middle rail provides power to the drive mechanism. Not to worry though, the center rail, and railroad is not dangerous.

O-31 vs. 0-42    Our layout/table is made for O-31 curves. Meaning they operate in a 31" diameter circle or larger. You'll find trains and engines made for O-42 on the market. If you want to use O-42, we can possibly do an outer loop on our platforms of O-42.   Larger tables can be built to accommodate larger running and turning sets.

What's DCC?    DCC or Digital Command Control is a great enhancement. It allows you to communicate with multiple locomotives, lights and layout features with one controller. Generally, to keep our prices in check, our railroads are DCC-ready, and you can upgrade after purchase.

Our platforms are great for kids of all ages. They fit in just fine at home or at the office. We find that the railroads are a great conversation piece and offer fun, action, are relaxing, and not just for Christmas and holidays, but all year round.

Our railroads bringing families together. Making memories with children and grandchildren while reliving your youth. It's a FUN and wholesome hobby.
